A café that has told people to stop bringing in their own food has received a huge outburst of support.
Auntie Em’s Tea and Toy Emporium, in City Arcade, took to social media earlier this week to voice their unhappiness at people not making use of the café but instead consuming their own food and drink.
This has led to a wave of support with many applauding the café for taking a stand, with over 150 Facebook comments on the Worcester News’ post.
One commenter, Stacy Anne, wrote: “Who in their right mind thinks its ok to take their own food? Surely if you don't want to eat their food, you wouldn't go? I cannot believe that people who think this is OK even exist!”
Another, Shelly Parker, said: “Been in before with my son and seen people blatantly giving their child a packed lunch while they sat with one drink for ages.
“So selfish really, how are they meant to survive as a business if people use the play areas but don’t buy anything.”
Meanwhile, Joanne Hinckesman, commented: “Good on the owners. How can these cheeky people think it’s ok to take in other food? This is a business trying to survive, so respect the rules.”
Keeley Hughes is a former coffee shop owner herself.
She said: “I ran a coffee shop for a member of my family for 12 months and having someone bring their own food in because they don’t want to buy from independent is disrespectful.”
