CHIPS are a staple part of many pub menus - but diners at Wetherspoons have been complaining about the amount they are served.

A tongue-in-cheek Facebook group called 'Wetherspoons paltry chip count' has been set up so people can share how few they have received.

And the city's two Wetherspoons pubs feature with fans sharing pictures of the lack of chips they have been served at the Postal Order, Foregate Street, and The Crown, Crown Passage.

Sara Mccullough, from Northern Ireland, shared a photo of her wrap which had a disappointing 18 chips.

She wrote: "18 in The Crown Worcester. Big sad :(("

Miss Mccullough, who visited the pub on Sunday (October 31), said: "The meal I had was great but the number of chips was a let down."

The Facebook group asks one question of its 170,000 members - How many chips did you get with your Wetherspoons meal?

People then post pictures of their food and the number of chips they received with the average number being around 25.

Worcester News:

Other Worcester diners have shared their chip count with one woman receiving a "decent" 25 and 27 chips at Postal Order and another just 21 chips at The Crown.

Another woman was served 22 chips at the Crown "and my longest chip was 12cm", she added.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “A few years back Wetherspoon carpets were all the rage on facebook, so it’s probably no surprise that someone has now started a chip account.

“All pubs should serve the same weight of chips, but the number of chips might vary depending on the size of chip.”

Wetherspoon's chips have also been in the spotlight this week as a man attempts to collect a chip from evey one of the chain's pubs.

Boris Bennett, 45, claims to carry a folder with him containing a chip from every Wetherspoons pub he has visited.
