A pedestrian in his thirties was taken to hospital with shoulder, facial and suspected chest injuries after he was in collison with a vehicle that drove off without stopping.
The injured man walked from the incident, in Farleigh Road, to an address in Priors Walk at around 7.20pm yesterday before an ambulance was called.
He was taken to the Accident & Emergency Department of Worcestershire Royal Hospital and kept in overnight for observation.
A police spokesman said: "As we don't yet know the full circumstances of this incident we cannot say whether the driver would have been aware of the collision or not."
"We would, therefore, ask anyone who was driving in the area at the given time to check their vehicle for damage or unexplained marks and to contact us if they believe they can help."
Officers also want to hear from anyone who was in the Farleigh Road or Priors Walk area at around the given time who may have seen something that could help identify the vehicle.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "The man also had injuries to his back consistent with being run over by a car.
"He was suffering with breathing difficulties as well."
