A cocaine-snorting drink driver crashed her ex-partner's car into a neighbour's fence after drinking and snorting cocaine.

Paige Allies left the home of her then partner Wes Joyce in Windermere Drive in Warndon, Worcester, because she was 'annoyed' she thought a male at the house was cheating on her friend.

The 24-year-old took the keys to the VW Golf on April 10 this year, setting off with a female friend before crashing into a neighbour's fence and running back into the house to tell Mr Joyce what had happened. She did not have a full licence and did not have insurance. The defendant said in a statement that Mr Joyce parked the car outside the house after the crash.

Allies admitted driving otherwise than accordance with a licence, driving without insurance, drink driving and drug driving when she appeared before magistrates in Worcester on Thursday.

Ralph Robyns-Landricombe, prosecuting, said Allies had been at her then boyfriend's address with friends. "She was drinking and taking a line of cocaine. She became annoyed at one of her friends, picked up her boyfriend's car keys and detached them from the keyring. She got into the car with her friend and crashed into a neighbour's fence."

She said she had not known where she intended to go but that she was 'annoyed' because a male had arrived at the house who was 'supposed to be seeing her friend'.

"I was annoyed at this male cheating on my friend" she told officers. Allies also said: "I could not get the brakes on the car to work and this caused me to panic."

She said she had assumed Mr Joyce would speak to his neighbours in the morning. Allies had no previous convictions. The prosecutor said the offence was aggravated because Allies, who told officers she was learning to drive, had both drink and drugs in her system.

The alcohol reading was 87 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, above the legal limit of 80. The reading for cocaine was 14 microgrammes per litre of blood (above the legal limit of 10). The reading for Benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, was 185 (above the legal limit of 50). Although there is a zero tolerance approach to class A drugs, limits exist to rule out accidental exposure.

Shaun Newey, defending, said: "She bitterly regrets getting into the vehicle and she is at a loss to explain why she did it."

He said no witnesses had seen her driving and that Allies told police and that she had taken drink and drugs.

Magistrates banned Allies, now living in Hall Cottages, Telford, from driving for 16 months in total - 12 for the drink driving and 16 months concurrently for the drug driving. She was fined £120 for drink driving, £120 for drug driving and a further £120 for driving without insurance.

On top of this she will also have to pay a fine of £40 for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, costs of £135 and a victim surcharge of £40.
