WATER seeping beneath Worcester's flood barriers is being pumped back in to the river.
Environment Agency workers are currently pumping water off the verge near Sabrina Bridge in Hylton Road.
The water is seeping beneath the barriers as the river levels rise.
An Environment Agency worker said: "The water is not yet sitting on the barriers so it is not holding them down and a small amount of water is seeping underneath.
"This is quite common and nothing to worry about. We are just pumping it back in to the river."
The worker said the barriers at Upton-on-Severn were working more effectively at present as about two inches of water is currently sitting on the barriers, holding them down.
The River Severn in Worcester and Upton is expected to peak later today.
