A Droitwich garden centre has launched its own gin.

Webbs of Wychbold has teamed up with Piston Distillery to create a gin made from ingredients grown at the centre.

The ‘Food at Webbs’ team challenged Piston to come up with a recipe using only botanicals that could be foraged from the woodlands or the nursery at Webbs.

The finished product is Imagin, which comes in two flavours, Foraged and Nettle.

Nettles, blackberries, elderflower, basil and bay are picked over the seasons and distilled to create a unique flavour which is then hand-poured into fully recycled glass bottles.

Louise Webb said: “we are always seeking to work with local artisan suppliers to bring exciting and unique food and drink products to our customers and we also wanted to create a gin that reflected our values.

“It has been a two-year project in the making; once we were happy with the recipe, we then needed another full year to be able to forage for the ingredients as the seasonality spans an entire 12 months!”

On the importance of creating a zero-waste product, Louise added: “In a world where we need to keep the environment at the forefront of our minds it was important to consider the packaging carefully and we are delighted that Piston were happy to help us with this part of the project. We feel lucky to be independent so we can make these sorts of decisions.”

Grace from Piston added: “The Nettle gin has been a revelation – is it delicious mixed with tonic, but it is also great straight up over ice. For the more conventional gin drinker we created a very flavoursome gin called Foraged - brimming with delicious Wychbold botanicals. It still has the nettle present but in smaller quantities.”

A 70cl bottle of the 42 per cent alcohol gin is priced at £42.99, £15.99 for the 20cl bottle and £5.99 for the 5cl bottle and all can be purchased instore or online.
