A TEENAGE drink driver reversed into a police car after leaving a Worcester nightclub saying it was because she was getting unwanted attention from a male sex pest.

Keyleigh Lane reversed into the police car in Angel Street after a night out at Tramps after getting harassed by a man at the club.

The 19-year-old, who will lose her job as a care worker a result of the driving ban, admitted driving with excess alcohol when she appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday following the incident on September 23 this year.

Ralph Robyns-Landricombe, prosecuting, said Lane was having difficulty getting into the driver's side of a Peugeot 208 parked in Angel Street at around 4.18am which aroused the suspicion of police.

He said officers parked directly behind the car to stop Lane driving away. "Lane reversed into the police vehicle driver's side door which caused no damage," he said.

When arrested and cautioned Lane replied: "I know, I know."

At the police station Lane was described as 'drifting in and out of sleep' in the holding cell but was compliant with officers. The lowest evidential reading was 67 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath, close to twice the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

Mark Turnbull, defending, said: "Miss Lane went to Tramps nightclub and was not intending to drink. She was with friends who kind of encouraged her to have a drink and she did. She isn't much of a drinker. She has borderline personality disorder and it doesn't sit well with her medication.

"She was in the club. There seems to have been a male who started to show her some attention that she doesn't want. She isn't encouraging or welcoming. It's become quite overbearing, trying to touch her, trying to kiss her. She decides she wants to leave. She wants to get away from this man."

Mr Turnbull said she accepted she had 'nudged' the police car. He said because she needed to drive for work 'she is going to lose that employment'.

Magistrates banned Lane of Prospect Road, Stourport from driving for 18 months. This will be reduced by 18 weeks if she completes a rehabilitation course. She was also fined £120 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £135.
