A MISTAKE by contractors which saw the speed of a main road increased dramatically has been fixed.
Contractors working for housing developers Bellway Homes were back at Ombersley Road on Wednesday to repaint the road following their error.
They had accidentally painted a 50mph sign on to the road at the junction with Green Lane which is in fact a 30mph section.
The speed does increase to 50mph at the junction of Perrins Way.
Previously, the whole section from Green Lane junction had been 50mph before a successful campaign to have it lowered because of the new housing estates about two years ago.
Here's how we reported the error
Now the road is back to its rightful 30mph after leaving drivers baffled at the actual speed limit for just under a week.
The fault was fixed at a cost to the housing developer.
Jon Fraser, head of highways at Worcestershire County Council said: "I’m grateful to Bellway Homes for acting so quickly to resolve the error in marking of the speed limit."
