A BLUNDER which dramatically changed the speed limit on a main road in Worcester will be corrected this week.
Drivers were left scratching their heads when a section of Ombersley Road went from 30mph to 50mph last week.
A contractor for Bellway Homes incorrectly painted a 50mph on the road near to the Green Lane junction on Thursday.
Worcestershire County Council confirmed that the 50mph road marking was painted in error and work would be carried out to correct it at the expense of the housing developer.
A spokeswoman said: "This was a contractor error and will be rectified on Wednesday.
"The stretch towards the Claines roundabout between Green Lane and Perrins Way will continue to be 30mph."
The road had previously been a 50mph but was reduced around two years ago after a successful campaign saw it reduced to 30mph.

Former city councillor Andy Stafford led the campaign after two housing estates were built near Ombersley Road in Bevere.
Bellway Homes was contacted for a response but did not reply before our deadline.
Councillor Mel Allcott (Lib Dem/Claines) has urged people to stick to the 30mph speed limit.
"It has caused confusion especially with the new housing estates which is why they changed limit.
"I would advise people to stick to the 30mph speed limit until Perrins Way because that is what all the signs used to say.
"We had a nasty accident before near the farm shop and it is a road where people should drive carefully."
