FOOTAGE of an otter chasing a salmon on the River Severn has delighted viewers on social media.
Charles Crundwell posted the footage to Twitter saying it was proof salmon could sense otters, after Chris Packham recently posed the question whether they could on BBC's Autumnwatch.
Mr Crundwell wrote: "I have watched hours of fish counter video from River Severn and they certainly act different just before an otter appears, as do sea lamprey."
The video, taken in June, shows an encounter between an otter and salmon, taken at the River Severn's fish pass viewing gallery at Diglis Weir, that was recently officially opened by Princess Anne.
The Canal and River Trust, which was behind the project, also tweeted: "Amazing footage from our viewing window.
"An otter swimming after a salmon through Diglis fish pass. You don't see sights like this very often."
