A POPULAR pub in Barbourne has reduced its hours after a number of members of staff tested positive for covid-19.
Six members of staff at The Alma Tavern on Droitwich Road have had to self isolate after testing positive for covid.
The family pub was closed yesterday and will be open under reduced hours for the rest of the week after six staff members.
Three people have returned or will be returning to work this week.
Jon Dean, owner/manager of The Alma, said he and fellow owner/manager Will Bradley are both isolating until Monday, November 8.
Mr Dean said: "Our staff have been taking all reasonable precautions which is why we have taken these steps to reduce our opening times.
"We have to act safely and swiftly in terms of our staff and our customers.
"Without a shadow of a doubt the health and safety of our staff and customers is paramount.
"We have consistently said that if you are feeling unwell take the test and if it is positive follow the government guidelines and remain at home to keep our other staff and customers safe."
The pub will reopen tomorrow (Tuesday) but will have reduced hours from 4pm to close from Tuesday to Thursday.
From Friday to Sunday, the pub will be open from noon to close.
Covid numbers are rising across the city with 481 people having a confirmed positive test result between Monday, October 25 and Sunday, October 31.
This is an increase of 1.3 per cent compared to the previous seven days, according to Public Health England.
