A woman has been rushed to hospital after a 'severe' house fire in Dines Green.

Fire crews were called to the blaze just before 10am this morning, which happened on the ground floor of a house in Hawkins Close.

An air ambulance also attended the scene, with police closing the road while crews tackled the fire, which they say was dealt with 'quickly'.

Shortly after, an eyewitness described seeing a woman 'wrapped in foil' being taken from the house.

A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire Service confirmed that a woman has been taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.

Fire investigation officers are continuing to work at the scene, although they said they couldn't yet comment on the cause of the blaze.

Damage to the property was described as 'extensive' by the fire service, who also said there was considerable fire and smoke damage to the ground floor of the house.

PVC window frames had visibly melted on the outside of the property from the intensity of the heat.
