MORE than 120 scarecrows have taken over a village near Worcester.

Fernhill Heath is once again hosting a scarecrow trail, which returns for its fifth year.

Residents have been extra creative this year with Paddington Bear, the hungry caterpillar and even Rodney and Del Boy all making an appearance in scarecrow form.

Emma Gannon-Edwards co-organised the event with North Claines Parish Council Chair, Meg Farmer.

She said: “Every year the Residents in our Village amaze us with their creativity and enthusiasm.

“It’s a wonderful community event that brings visitors from all over Worcestershire.”

The event is sponsored by Fernhill House Care Home with the residents and staff responsible for choosing which creations will take home the prizes.

Frankie Brennan, customer relations manager at the home, said, "The Residents really look forward to seeing all of the different Scarecrows.

“We do a lot of craft within Fernhill House and to have this connection with the Village makes us feel very much a part of the village community.

“Fernhill House are more than pleased to support the event".

There is also a visitors vote taking place so everyone who chooses to walk, cycle or drive the trail can have their say.

Maps are available from several local stores including Costcutter, Dilmore Stores, Spar, and The Bull Inn, and already over 800 have been picked up.

This weekend is your last chance to visit with the trail running until 4pm on Sunday, October 31.
