WORK on a new road link in Worcestershire is still going more than three years after it was started.
The Southern Link Road, first announced at the start of 2019, was due to be finished in early 2021, but flooding and Covid have both delayed the progress of the work.
Because of this. highways bosses believe the work is on track to finish in summer next year.
The county council shared an update on how the work is progressing through the autumn.
The temporary crossing to the east of the Norton Roundabout has been removed, with pedestrians and cyclists being redirected to use the Broomhall Way Footbridge.
This has enabled all three lanes on the westbound approach to the roundabout to be re-opened with speed limits being installed.
Finishing touches to drainage and landscaping are continuing in Power Park together with the installation of benches.
The temporary fencing on-site can now also be removed, now sufficient work has taken place.
In addition to this work, the original Temeside Way structures and road are still being worked on.
Improvement and maintenance work is being carried out including the building of a retaining wall to allow for a widened pedestrian and cycle path.
Work is also carrying on to improve Powick Roundabout and its approaches and exits to tie it to the widened Temeside Way.
The council said "significant progress" has also been made on the Ketch Viewpoint.
Still to be done are the resurfacing, lining and signage throughout as well as the completion of the Ketch underpass.
On top of this, the completion of tie-in works on the A38 together with reinstating the signal-controlled crossing close to the Ketch Pub are still on the list.
The council has shared a magical shot of some friendly deer visiting the site while work progresses.
Deer and swans were spotted on the site taking advantage of the flood alleviation places.
The animals were spotted by eagle-eyed photographers while they used it as a watering hole.
