An "abnormal load" is causing havoc on the M5 after breaking down earlier this morning.
At around 7:30am National Highways reported that a broken down vehicle had caused a lane closure on the M5 southbound between junction seven, Worcester, and Junction eight, M50 Link.
The vehicle in question is a large, yellow, dump truck.
The incident has led to delays of around 10 minutes with up to six miles of traffic backing up.
Traffic officers were sent to the scene to organise recovery and drivers warned to take care when driving by.
However over an hour later the problem had still not been solved with recovery taking longer than expected.
At 8:39am National Highways tweeted to say that recovery for the vehicle would take an additional 90 minutes and as of 10:42am the truck remains in place with National Highways stating that "complications" have delayed recovery.
A tweet read: "If you have been affected by this closure, thank you for your patience. We will re-open lane 1 as soon as possible.
Motorists have been urged to consider taking an alternative route.
UPDATE: The dump truck has now been recovered and all lanes have reopened.
At 11:02am National Highways tweeted: "This scene has now cleared, all lanes have re-opened.
"We thank you again for your patience if this incident has adversely affected your journey this morning."
