A SUICIDAL man threatened to stab a teenager before locking himself in his house and trying to cut his own throat.
Richard Smith was sitting outside a 16-year-old boy's house on Monday, August 13, and threatened to stab him when he walked past.
Smith then left and went to his house in Upton Road, Clevelode, near Malvern.
Later, police received a call from the ambulance service saying there was a man inside a house who was cutting his throat and taking tablets.
Four police officers, a dog team and an armed response unit discovered Smith had locked himself in and was brandishing a big knife and running it down his throat.
Mark Lister, defending, said: "The only person who was in danger was Richard Smith himself. That is not to say the teenager did not know that."
After the incident, Smith spent two weeks receiving psychiatric treatment.
The 21-year-old appeared at Worcester Magistrates' Court where he admitted using threatening or abusive behaviour towards the teenager.
He was fined £50 and ordered to pay £60 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
