A GROUP dedicated to bringing Worcester's history to life is throwing down the gauntlet to the people of the Faithful City to get involved and find out what their forebears really got up to.
Discover History was created in 2003 by Paul Harding and Helen Lee who share a common passion for the story of their home city.
Their success in turning the past into the present has centred around the popular walks they have been leading from the Guildhall and along the old city boundaries.
From ancient times, to the Roman era and on to the civil wars through to the present, the excursions have been steadily gaining in popularity.
But now, Paul and Helen need a helping hand.
Paul said: "We are always expanding and now we need more volunteers. The people the team requires must be friendly, enthusiastic and with an interest in history generally.
"The willing recruits don't need to be qualified in history, but any qualifications will help. Training can be given in all aspects of the role. A volunteer will assist with the team in running school workshops locally and living history throughout Britain."
Discover History goes out to schools across Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire and Birmingham, offering a wide range of services.
Workshops are the most popular, where the group gives talks in period clothing plus hands-on topics ranging from warfare to cooking and toys.
They also offer practical sessions in which children attempt historical tasks from weaving to even loading a cannon. Lectures can also be delivered to interested parties.
Paul said: "Anyone with an interest in history who is willing to learn can contact us by e-mailing discoverhistory@aol.com telling us about themselves and what they feel they can bring to the team."
