TWO nightclubs in Worcester have promised to do more to protect people from being spiked.

Sin and Bushwackers have issued advice to people coming into the club about how they can stay safe and report incidents.

This comes amid nationwide fears of an increase in spiking.

A post on Sin's Instagram page said: "We have put a number of safety procedures in place to keep everyone safe in both Sin and Bushwackers.

"As well as these safety precautions, we also have female welfare officers in both clubs so all our customers feel safe.

"We fully support females staying safe in both our venues.

"If you see anything and don't feel safe, please don't hesitate to speak to a member of staff trained in helping others."

The club is advising clubbers to never leave their drinks unattended, avoid sharing drinks, don't accept drinks from strangers and ask for a protective cover for your drink from the bar.

In addition, their advice is to throw away your drink if it tastes strange, to ask someone you trust for help if you feel sick or dizzy, and to report any suspicious activity.

Clubbers who are worried for their welfare are advised to speak to Amy and Jess, the welfare officers for Sin and Bushwackers.

We previously reported how clubbers are contemplating boycotting Worcester's bars and clubs as fears of spiking grow.

The Girls Night In campaign will see women boycott nightclubs across the country on Wednesday, October 27 as more and more victims of spiking via drinks and injections come forward.

This comes after recent worrying developments in Nottingham, where police arrested a 20-year-old man as part of an investigation following social media reports of women being injected with needles over the past two weeks.

Clement Servini, from Worcester Students' Union, said: "We are aware of the Girls Night In campaign, and a number of our students and student groups have expressed an interest in the proposed boycott.

"We support all of our students to make their own decisions around this issue and whether or not they want to participate in the campaign.

"We want all Worcester students to feel safe in the Students’ Union and at venues run by our commercial partners."
