A WORCESTER cafe has received a one star food hygiene rating after its latest inspection.
O Nosso Cafe was given the rating, the second lowest, by Food Standards Agency (FSA) inspectors after the inspection on September 13.
A report into the London Road-based venue reveals that "major improvement' was necessary in the management of food safety - which looks at the system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.

Worcester News: CAFE: O Nosso Cafe that has been rated as one star by health inspectors

The report found that O Nosso Cafe's standards in hygienic handling of food, and the cleanliness and conditions of the facilities and the building, were both generally satisfactory.
Monica Da Silva, owner of O Nosso Cafe, said it was its first inspection since starting the business last year and staff disputed that the cafe was of a low standard saying it should have been rated much higher.
The owner added it was always clean and tidy, it followed high hygiene standards generally - but said it would cost £170 for a reinspection which they were unhappy having to pay.
In receiving the rating the cafe joins the short list of food businesses in the city with the one star restaurant, which includes Age UK Worcester And District Lunch Club, Bilford Court and Your’s Pizza Bite / Little India in Ronkswood Hill.
No business in Worcester has zero stars, the lowest rating.
Groszek in Lowesmoor - that has appeared on the one star list since inspectors visited the business in January 2020 - is no longer showing on the FSA website.
Ratings are judged by inspectors over the standards in the handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities and pest control, how food safety is managed and evidence staff know about food safety.
If managers disagree with a rating, or believe their business has been upgraded since receiving the rating listed on the FSA website, food.gov.uk, they should contact the FSA directly.
All information published is based on results on the FSA website, food.gov.uk, and is correct as of October 22, 2021, with inspections listed as the latest carried out.
