A CHILDREN'S centre in Malvern was among a number of childcare providers invited to a special reception in London.
The event was held for nurseries judged "outstanding" by school inspector Ofsted between September 2006 and July 2007.
Among the ones from Worcestershire was the Madresfield Early Years Centre, Malvern.
Alice Bennett, from the centre, said: "I found the occasion interesting and felt it was good to be recognised and celebrated in this way.
"It was a great honour to represent such a loyal and talented staff team who work so tirelessly to achieve such high standards of care and education for so many families in the Malvern area."
Chief schools inspector Christine Gilbert gave a short presentation and childcare providers took part in group discussions.
Mrs Bennett said: "She paid tribute to us and acknowledged we often represented a wider team.
"She thanked us for contributing with heart and minds, day in and day out."
In Madresfield's Ofsted report, published in October 2006, inspectors said: "The provision is outstanding. Children are looked after in areas that are organised to promote their comfort and welfare to a high standard.
"Children thoroughly enjoy being at the Early Years Centre. Whichever department they attend, babies and children quickly settle and staff are attentive to those who need additional reassurance."
Also invited to the event were: St Catherine's Childcare, Kidderminster; Tan Lane pre-School nursery, Stourport-on-Severn; Alphabet House, Evesham; and Evesham Nursery School.
