ONE of Worcester's longest-running businesses is celebrating a landmark milestone.

Mann Broadbent, set up in 1961, is celebrating 60 years helping sportspeople and dancers in Worcester find insurance.

With the Covid pandemic hitting and outdoor activities cut back, the business saw demand for their services suffer.

Now though, demand is beginning to rise again, with the company getting back on its feet.

Managing director Duncan Sutcliffe said: "As the industry is getting back on it’s feet, so too are we experiencing a high demand for our services.

"This has been echoed in the successful launch of our new insurance policy in June and we will continue to announce new services in 2022, to further support the recovery of the sports, dance and leisure industry."

Mann Broadbent was established in 1961 by its founders Bob Mann and Bob Broadbent.

Originally the business was set up to provide the necessary cover for teams playing amateur sport, but now Mann Broadbent helps provide insurance services to a wide range of sports, dance and leisure organisations throughout the UK.

Mr Sutcliffe added: "We are absolutely delighted to be celebrating our 60th anniversary.

"So much has changed since the business started but one thing that is still the same and that is the passion we have for providing a personal service, where we really care about our clients.

"Now we support such a wide range of individuals and organisations from sports clubs to climbing centres, to axe throwing and triathlon events… the list is endless."

Founder Bob Mann was a keen footballer and later as a Football League, F.I.F.A. and Olympic Games’ referee and an administrator at County F.A. level.

While Bob Broadbent’s background was in cricket and for many years, a regular first-eleven batsman with Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

The company is now part of independent brokers Sutcliffe and Co.
