SIXTH-formers at a Worcester school have been sharing their enthusiasms with younger pupils.
Students at King's School, Worcester, have forged valued relationships with the youngest pupils at one of the independent school's junior schools, King's St Alban's.
"It's a great break from the usual pressure of A-levels and it's nice to meet pupils who will one day be in the same position as we are now," said student David Hedges.
David, along with many others, reads with two children during the week during his personal study periods. Jonathan Preston, another sixth form volunteer, has been helping at the science club, where pupils in years 5 and 6 work towards certificates awarded by the British Association of Young Scientists.
Elicia Andrews and Sophie Kavanagh helped at the recent taster morning for possible new entrants to King's St Alban's and Emily Phillips and Rebecca Leach regularly help with art and craft club.
Peter Holder, another sixth-former, regularly accompanies children in their musical performances. He plays the piano, keyboard and organ at concerts, cathedral carol services and at the end of year speech day, giving him vital performance experience as well as giving huge encouragement to the junior school pupils.
"Visitors to King's St Alban's are often struck by the evident interaction between the junior school children and the senior school pupils," said Richard Bellfield, headteacher at King's St Alban's.
