MORE than 100 children from Worcester primary schools had the afternoon off to perform on stage in a dance festival at Elgar Technology College.
Children from six schools performed after receiving dance tuition every week last term. The children have been going to after-school clubs to learn and practise their dance moves.
Artists from DanceFest have been teaching the students various contemporary pieces along the theme of the Olympics and the dance festival was a chance to show them off.
A spokesman said: "The dance studio at Elgar Technology College proved to be the perfect venue for the children to impress their parents and teachers. More than 50 parents came to watch their children perform.
"The artists were provided via funding from the Droitwich and Worcester City School Sport Partnership as part of a lottery grant to get more children physically active. Funding will be available for all primary schools in Worcester city and Droitwich to have a similar opportunity to work with DanceFest throughout 2008."
This was the second Elgar Technology College Dance Festival and will be taking place again this time next year.
