To those who were not aware, came the sad news that Sybil Shrimpton had passed away suddenly at the age of 93. Sybil was a popular lady who had been a dedicated member of North Claines for several years and had also served on the committee. She will be sorely missed by many.
The minutes of the last meeting were read out by secretary Paula and mention was made of the successful Christmas buffet.
Members were advised of the change of date and venue for the 55th birthday celebration in March, when the speaker will be Nonny James.
The speaker was Charles Hadwell who gave an interesting talk on the history of the House Of Faberge and its connection through the years with the Romanoff Imperial Family. Mr Hadwell showed a stunning selection of slides of the jewelled eggs made by Faberge.
The next meeting will be Thursday, February 7, at Claines Church Institute when the speaker will be Ray Sturdy who will give a talk on Peru - Land of the Incas.
