THE landlord of a Worcester pub has appeared in court for racially aggravated criminal damage after it is alleged he damaged a taxi parked outside the city centre bar.
Adrian Birch, landlord of the Horn and Trumpet in Angel Street, Worcester, denied one count of racially aggravated criminal damage and a further count of criminal damage when he appeared before Judge Nicolas Cartwright at Worcester Crown Court on Friday.
Wearing a grey suit, the 62-year-old defendant of Angel Street, Worcester entered not guilty pleas to both offences which are said to have occurred at the time he is alleged to have damaged a Peugeot car on September 8, 2019.
The trial was adjourned and placed in a warned list beginning February 8 next year. This means the trial has no fixed date but will begin as soon as the court can accommodate it after that date.
In the meantime Birch was granted unconditional bail.
*We have been asked by the pub's owner to point out that Birch is not the landlord of the Horn and Trumpet, despite the reference made in court.
