An officer shouts 'get your hands up!' as the man exits the driver's side of the vehicle and later 'get your hands above your head!' After a few seconds there is a bang and the man drops to the ground.
Throughout the day today a forensics team has been examining the car and taking photographs of the scene. A cordon remained in place throughout much of the day in Ronkswood Hill.
A wider cordon which closed Newtown Road was lifted yesterday afternoon.
Assistant Chief Constable Rachel Jones said in a statement issued yesterday: “This is an extremely unusual incident for our policing area. We understand that the local community and wider area will be shocked by the events in Ronkswood Hill this morning.
She added: “We do not believe there to be any wider threat to the local community and we have referred this to our Professional Standards Department (PSD) and the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) to review.
“It is standard procedure that incidents of this nature are referred to our PSD and the IOPC and we will now work with them as they carry out their enquiries.”
