A POPULAR discount store has apologised to customers for its continued closure as it remains unclear when it will reopen again.
Poundland closed its doors earlier this year while work on the outside of the building, in Broad Street, got underway.
In May the nearby Crowngate Shopping Centre entrance was shut off over safety concerns about falling debris from the roof, with the barrier stretching across that entrance and in front of Poundland.
But although the entrance to the shopping centre has since reopened, the bargain store has remained closed with the shop front blocked off, and the barrier still in place.
A spokesman for Poundland said: "Our store in Broad Street is temporarily closed while the landlord carries out essential work to the building.
"We know this is disappointing for our customers, but as soon as we have a date for reopening, we’ll let you know.”
Crowngate Shopping Centre was contacted for comment, but no one was available.
