PILES of rubbish were left festering outside a block of Worcester flats for two months before the council eventually cleared them.
Seventy-seven-year-old William Orgee tried to control the bags of household waste outside his sister's flat in Kennet Green, Ronkswood, but it became unmanageable.
"I did try and keep it tidy as long as I could but I am 77, it went beyond redemption," he said.
The problem concerned a bin store outside the flats where residents place bags of rubbish ready for collection by the council.
Mr Orgee's sister, 74-year-old Evelyn Orgee, called Worcester City Council about the problem four times and the bags were collected on Friday, January 11.
A spokesman for Worcester City Council, which is responsible for refuse collection in the city, said: "Operational services have not had any reports about the problem.
"The most likely reason for the build up could be because the green recycling bins have been contaminated. In these instances we have a legal right to not pick up rubbish.
"If this is the case we send an officer who speaks to the people."
