DEDICATED volunteers who have clocked up more than 70 years of service at Worcester's Citizens Advice Bureau have stepped down.

Over the years, Robin Buch-anan, Beryl Rees and Pauline Hebburn have given words of wisdom to thousands of customers. Mrs Buchanan has been the longest serving of the three, with 31 years of service under her belt.

"I've loved it and feel sorry to be leaving. I will miss the people," said the 77-year-old, of Barbourne, Worcester.

Meanwhile, Miss Hebburn has given 22 years to the CAB. "I've enjoyed meeting all kinds of people coming into us for advice. It's been a wonderful experience and I'm very sad to leave," said the 82-year-old, also of Barbourne. Mrs Rees, of Droitwich, said she started at the bureau in 1987. "I had a career in the civil service, and when I finished, I felt I had a lot to give - knowledge and the experience of dealing with and helping people," said the 76-year-old.

"I've never regretted it. It's been wonderful. It's a job where everybody's different and all the problems are different so it never gets boring."

Manager Michael Gardner said the triple retirement would be a huge loss to the service. "They have been extraordinary," he said. "The have probably advised thousands of people here between them. It's a huge contribution."
