PEOPLE are being given the chance to nominate youngsters living in Worcestershire in an annual county-wide contest that celebrates the work of unsung heroes.
Worcestershire County Council's youth support service is calling on people in Worcester, Malvern and Pershore to get their thinking caps on and nominate 11 to 19-year-olds for its Tryangle Awards.
The awards, which are in their third year, celebrate the efforts of young people who try, often with little recognition, to do their best.
Councillor Liz Eyre, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "Now's the time for everybody who works with young people to let us know of a young person, or groups of young people, they think are worthy of receiving a Tryangle Award.
"High flyers are very often recognised for their efforts, but not necessarily people who try their best. The Tryangle Awards are our way of finding Worcestershire's unsung heroes and giving them the recognition they deserve."
Nearly 40 young people from across the county were crowned winners in last year's awards, which saw them being presented with a trophy and framed certificate at a special presentation ceremony.
Nominations are accepted from anybody who is involved with young people such as teachers, youth workers, sports coaches, volunteers, family, and friends.
Youngsters can be entered into any one of the following categories:
- Bravery
- Personal achievement
- Personal achievement in music
- Personal achievement in sport and outdoor activities
- Good friends and carers
- Citizenship and environment
- Personal development Nomination forms have been sent to all secondary schools across Worcestershire, but they are also available at libraries and customer contact centres.
Alternatively, people can log on to www.youthworcs.org.uk/tryangle
The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 15. For more information, call Dave Evans on 01905 765417.
