SINGER Joe Brown is returning to Worcester to mark 50 years as a professional entertainer.
Brown, who began his career in 1958 with a skiffle group called The Spacemen and now tours with his equally talented daughter Sam and son Pete, is one of Britain's best loved, enduring and most acclaimed musician. In 1960 he formed a backing group called The Bruvvers and his hit records included A Picture of You, With A Little Help From My Friends, and Hey Mama.
After the NME voted him Top UK Vocal Performer, he went on to appear in films, stage musicals - notably Charlie Girl in the West End - and performed on television.
Proficient on a number of instruments, including the acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin and fiddle, Brown was a close friend of George Harrison and in 2002, at the Concert for George, he performed a moving rendition of I'll See You In My Dreams on ukulele.
To see him at Worcester's Swan Theatre on Saturday, February 2, call the Worcester Live box office on 01905 742251. Tickets are £20.
