THE Groundhogs started life as a backing band for John Lee Hooker.
Now considered as one of the lesser known but most critically regarded blues groups of the late 1960s, the British band released their final blues album, Blues Obituary, in 1969.
After that, they began to play heavy progressive rock.
Officially splitting in 1976, the band returned as a live act and continued to perform through the 80s and 90s.
Last year, founding member Tony McPhee put together a new group with long-time Groundhogs member Dave Anderson on bass and Marco Anderson on drums.
They will be at Worcester's Huntingdon Hall on Saturday, January 19. For tickets, priced £13.50, call the box office on 01905 611427.
