THE curtain has gone up on this year's Norbury Theatre panto.

Last month, the Droitwich venue - staging Dick Whittington until the end of the month - ran a competition for youngsters to design the flag for the Golden Duck, the pirate ship which Dick and his trusted talking cat Tommy must board in order to save Dick's love Alice.

The winning entry was designed by 11-year-old Suzanne Richter, of Droitwich, who's colourful flag complete with golden duck will be used in the show. Suzanne also wins a family ticket.

Dick Whittington, with Natalie Bull in the title role, opened yesterday and runs until Sunday, January 27.
