THE new headteacher at Worcester's Elgar Technology College has been welcomed to his position.
Andrew Grace started work at the Bilford Road school, which is currently in special measures, this week.
"I'm delighted to be here," he said. "This is the school I wanted to work at and I'm pleased to now be here."
Mr Grace was the acting head at the Pedmore Technology College in Stourbridge. The 48-year-old was appointed to the Elgar role in September and started on Monday.
"This is a good school at the core," he said. "There are some very dedicated and caring staff there who want the children to do well. We also have the support of a very strong governing body."
In June, a federation was formed between Elgar and Baxter College in Kidderminster, with Baxter's head David Seddon becoming executive headteacher of both schools.
Mr Seddon will now be taking on a more supportive role at Elgar, helping Mr Grace transform the school and get it out of special measures.
Originally from Wakefield, Mr Grace is married and has one son.
