The founder of a popular warehouse venue has offered help to the cancelled Worcestershire Pride.

Jay Newman, who runs Pro-ject Events, offered Pride organisers the use of his Unit Warehouse venue in Sheriff Street after reading that it could not go ahead.

Committee chairman Mathew Skilbeck revealed yesterday that the 2021 plans had to be postponed because of a lack of funding.

Unit Warehouse posted a comment on the Worcester News Facebook post about the story asking if they would like to "host a warehouse party with us at Unit Warehouse Worcester to try and make up for it".

He said: "We saw the story on Worcester News and we have a venue that we try and use for multiple events.

"We thought it would be ideal if we could offer the use of the space to run some kind of Pride celebration."

Unit Warehouse and Pro-ject events have been putting on raves and festival events throughout the summer catering to different crowds.

After a sell out Ibiza Classics festival at Sixways, Mr Newman said they were now looking forward to Party at the Manor.

He said the event at The Nash in Kempsey on Saturday, September 25 was something completely different for the team.

Guests will party inside a luxury marquee on the grounds to the sounds of DJ Jim Shaft Ryan who was part of the legendary Chuf Chuf manor house parties and regular Miss Moneypenny's resident.

"We're really excited about this one as its something completely different and new.

"The Nash is a beautiful manor house and this is completely different to what we usually do.

"It will be the building and the setting which will make this event so special.

"This is something different for people to look forward to.

"It will be a great way to mark the end of the summer with a crazy party with a beautiful manor house backdrop and hopeully with some sun."

Tickets are already on sale for the event at www.projecteventsuk.com. Doors open at 1pm.

• The Pride team will be hosting a party at The Flag, Lowesmoor, on September 18 from 9pm to 4am. Entry is £4.

The LGBT+ Pride Festival is scheduled to return in 2022.
