POLICE have said a 71-year-old died in a crash involving a car and road sweeper
The crash took place on the A46 Cheltenham Road, in Hinton-on-the-Green - the Hinton Cross area of Evesham - between a road sweeper lorry and a black BMW.
It took place on Thurday night at 5.56pm with the A46 closed while emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended the incident.
The 71-year-old man, driving one of the vehicles, died and his next of kin have been informed, police have said.
Earlier a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived at the scene of the collision to find the driver of the car, a man, in a critical condition with bystander CPR already being carried out by an off-duty paramedic who came across the incident, with assistance from police.
“Staff took over in the patient’s treatment and administered advanced trauma care at the scene.
"However sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed deceased on scene.”
The road was closed for several hours while police investigations took place and was reopened at 1.30am this morning, August 27.
Any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 503i of 26 August 2021.
Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
