TEAM GB Women's wheelchair basketball team's hopes of a Paralympic medal have been dented after losing their first two games in Tokyo.
Former Worcester University students Sophia Carrigill and Jude Hamer are both involved in the GB squad but they and the team will need to bounce back strongly if they are to recover into a position to fight for the medals.
Having been beaten by Canada 73-54 on Wednesday in their opening game, they were narrowly edged out by hosts Japan on Thursday, going down by just six points in a tight 54-48 defeat.
The tournament sees two groups of five, Group A - Japan, Germany, Australia, Great Britain, Canada; and Pool B - USA, China, Netherlands, Spain, Algeria.
The bottom teams in each group are dropped from the competition and the rest go into the quarter-finals.
They return to action tomorrow against the Germans before they play Australia in the final match of the group stage.
