JOBS are set to be axed at an established Droitwich firm as production is moved abroad.

As many as 35 jobs will be lost at Nu-way, in Vines Lane, when the firm's manufacturing department is cut.

The company, which makes oil, gas and renewable burners, has been based in Droitwich for nearly 70 years.

However, following a review, cuts will be made and major manufacturing consolidated and moved to Hemer in Germany.

James Sopwith, managing director at Nu-way, said: "Up to 35 jobs will be lost. It is part of a review through the Enertech group, of which Nu-way is a part.

"The redundancies will mainly come in our manufacturing department which will be downsized. This is an economic decision because the heating business is going through a difficult time.

"We are hoping to change and develop and move into new areas. We will focus on renewable energy and spares. Manufacturing will not stop fully, but will be reduced." There are no plans for the company, which employs about 100 people in Droitwich, to move from its Vines Lane base.
