Greggs is the latest high street chain to be hit by the food shortage.
The Greggs on Worcester High Street was closed on Wednesday following “supplier issues”.
PoliticsHome have reported that the bakery chain is suffering from a lack of chicken, which follows supply at Nandos, McDonald's and KFC last week.
These issues are being caused primarily by a lack of lorry drivers as well as staff shortages elsewhere in the production line, attributed to the ending of lockdown and Brexit.
The Worcester store closed for only a few hours before reopening at 1pm but a sign is highlighting their stock shortages, and shelves have been described as empty.
One Worcester resident, Mark Garness, took to Twitter to voice his annoyance at the bakery’s closure.
In a Tweet he wrote: “Now #GreggsOfficial seems to be the latest experiencing supplier issues and can't open restaurants!! Grrr!!
“What's this down to? #BrexitFoodShortages? Lack of lorry drivers or #pingdemic? Was coming out of Europe such a good idea knowing I won't be able to get my sausage roll??”
McDonald's was also affected this week after suffering a shortage of milkshakes and bottled drinks at the majority of its UK stores.
UPDATE: The Greggs on Worcester High Street reopened at around 1pm.
