YOUNG people in Worcestershire can walk in for their covid vaccinations at sites across the county.

Following the success of "grab a jab" which saw thousands of adults get their first shot earlier this summer, 16 and 17 year-olds are now eligible for theirs.

Wednesday and Thursday this week sees 16 and 17 year-olds able to come and get their first dose of Pfizer at the HoW College campus, St Andrew's Building, Worcester.

The drop in site is open from 10am until 7pm.

The Artrix in Bromsgrove is another place where 16 and 17 year-olds can get their jabs.

The Artrix is open from Monday to Saturday, 8am until 7pm and Sunday 8am until 1.30pm.

Both AstraZeneca and Pfizer are available with anyone over 16 years-old able to walk in.

In Worcester, walk-ins for over 18s are available at St Peters Church.

Subject to closures, the site is open from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm or Saturday, 8am to 4pm.

The other walk-in site in the county is the Three Counties Showground vaccination site.

This site is open from Monday to Friday, 8am until 5pm or Saturday, 8am until 1.30pm.

Both the St Peters site and the Three Counties offer the Moderna vaccine, and are only open to over-18s.

Dr Kathryn Cobain, director of public health for Worcestershire said: "Across Worcestershire, our vaccine programme has been really successful, the numbers of people taking up the offer of a vaccine have been positive.

"We are so grateful to everyone who has come forward so far across the county.

"I am so thankful to Worcester City Council and our local NHS partners who have once again joined with us to put on a walk-in clinic in Worcester.

"This should make it easier for our younger residents to get their first vaccine, as they can just drop by and be seen.

"Clinics like these make it much easier and more convenient for people to come forward and to get vaccinated.

"Vaccination is so important, not only as it protects the person receiving the vaccine, but it also helps to protect their loved ones and local residents."
