PEDALLING away to a life as a married couple are Isabelle Michel and Terry McCarthy, who were wed earlier in the summer.
The Worcester couple tied the knot at County Hall in May – a year later than they had originally planned. Isabelle and Terry had been together for 20 years before deciding to wed, and then the pandemic arrived, forcing them to delay their plans for 12 months.
The couple – keen cyclists – and the wedding party, including the pair’s two children, Louis and Max, all cycled from the couple’s home in Barbourne to County Hall.
The bride’s bicycle was decorated with flowers and the groom’s bike carried a flag with the words Wedding Convoy.
Isabelle is French and after the wedding the French and British flags were laid out on the ground. She spoke to her family, who were in France and watching the ceremony via a video link. Friends decorated the groom’s bike with tin cans for the return journey.
The couple had a Croquembouche – a traditional French wedding cake made from a tower of profiteroles.
Isabelle said: “The cycling wedding was the best way to maximise the time spent with our friends and show them the best of Worcester at the same time.
“Everyone played the game and cycled and I think everyone enjoyed it!”
Isabelle and Terry went camping for their honeymoon.
