A PLAN to map out the future of a Worcester parish has attracted little interest from residents, so councillors have launched a last-ditch attempt to capture their imagination.

Ray Morris, chairman of Warndon Parish Council, said a newsletter would be sent out across the parish to generate more interest in the parish plan.

The council aims to send out the letter in February.

The parish plan is a blueprint for the future of the parish over the next five to 10 years on issues such as litter, facilities for young people, traffic, education, crime, employment, healthcare, recycling, sport and recreation. The plan is based on residents' ideas, needs and views. If finished, it will include a detailed report, a booklet, leaflet, poster and action plan. Coun Morris, speaking at the meeting at the Lyppard Grange Community Centre in Ankerage Green on Monday, said: "We have decided to circulate a newsletter to all the residents of the parish with an update of what we have done so far.

"It's everybody's last chance to put in ideas if they have them. This is a last ditch attempt to get a major input into the plan. We have been working one-and-a-half years and have managed to get 400 people involved. At the moment it's questionable whether we will be able to produce a parish plan. This is a critical time."

Work on the parish plan started in September 2006 when a preliminary questionnaire was sent to a sample of the community.

The parish council has worked hard to promote the plan to as many people as possible by distributing questionnaires and by organising a stall at the Warndon Fun Run.
