A 'BLIND drunk' former drug addict on a vodka binge exposed himself to workmen close to a school in a row over a blocked drive.

Jason Gregory was captured on camera as he dropped his trousers and showed his buttocks and genitals to workmen during an argument outside Bargain Booze in Barnards Green Road in Malvern.

The 41-year-old father-of-five admitted exposure at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday following the incident on June 24 this year.

It was accepted by the court that there was no sexual motivation and that the exposure, captured on CCTV, was to express his frustration with the workmen.

Shafquat Reaz, prosecuting, said: "He was heavily intoxicated. He was unsteady on his feet at the time. The location was close to The Chase High School.

"The defendant was there and he had an altercation with some workmen working on the road.

"It's here that the defendant has been seen on the CCTV by other members of the public exposing his genitals and buttocks in full view of members of the public."

Rob Macrory, who has represented Gregory 'since he was a child', asked the case to be adjourned for a short time so the defendant could be interviewed over the phone by a probation officer.

This was to enable a stand down pre-sentence report to be prepared.

However, a probation officer at court said the interview was cut short when Gregory 'hung up the phone' although the defendant claimed he had been physically sick and had to end the call.

A probation officer said Gregory had a previous crack cocaine and heroin addiction but gave up using those drugs when he was 37.

She also said he had five children. When his children were mentioned Gregory interrupted, saying: "Relevant?"

The probation officer said: "The offence wasn't sexually motivated. It was an offence born out of anger towards the workmen. He used the exposure as a means of expressing his frustration in short."

Gregory was not suitable for unpaid work because of a hiatus hernia.

Mr Macrory said: "If not stressed out he's a very nice and pleasant person to talk with. I had a very rational conversation about the plea and this interview with the probation service. It's a shame he got frustrated. That's all it was."

The solicitor said that his client had been trying to explain the variety of illnesses he suffers from, including bipolar disorder and that he was not capable of doing unpaid work.

Of the offence itself the solicitor said: "His driveway was blocked and he had had a lot of vodka to drink. He can't drink now because of the medication he's on. He hasn't drunk since the incident."

Mr Macrory added: "There was obviously no sexual motivation. He doesn't remember it as he was blind drunk and is really, really embarrassed about it."

Magistrates imposed an eight-week community order with a single requirement - an eight week electronically tagged curfew between 8pm and 8am. He was also ordered to pay £185 costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
