A FESTIVE scene greeted members when they arrived at the URC Hall on December 6 for the Christmas party.

The committee had been busy with crackers, presents and beautiful table decorations to make the tables colourful and the room welcoming.

After the very short business meeting members enjoyed a cup of coffee before tackling the quiz so ably compiled by Sheila Sumner. Pictures depicting proverbs or sayings taxed the brain, until all six cards had been completed. Lunch this year was a hot meal of chicken and tarragon, new potatoes and mixed vegetables followed by a selection of eight scrumptious desserts, mince pies, coffee and mints, all washed down with the odd glass or two of wine or orange juice and apple juice for the drivers.

Entertainment was provided by the members of the committee giving their rendition of the Carol Singers suitably dressed in hats, coats and scarves followed by the Guild choir singing Christmas Bells. The party ended with general carols and a reading from the chairman, Julie Wacey.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, January 17, at the URC Hall, Malvern Link, at 10.15am when Gill Holt will take as her title Malvern People.

Visitors are most welcome.
