THE guilty verdicts handed down to former Malvern councillor Michael Angell on child porn charges show again how the internet is being used and abused by the perverted.
The judge in Angell's case told him yesterday that the guilty verdicts were "inevitable".
It is interesting that the verdicts in the former deputy mayor's case came a day after the TV star Chris Langham announced his attempt to return to public life after he was jailed for similar offences.
The excuses used and arrogance shown by the likes of Angell and Langham when their wrongdoing is exposed beggar belief.
The actor said he was researching while writing a comedy show.
The ex-councillor claimed the disgusting images found on his council-owned laptop just popped on to the screen when he was looking at adult porn websites.
Aside from the fact that he was looking at these sites on a computer paid for by taxpayers, what people like Angell seem to fail to understand is that by looking at these awful images they are part of the abuse being inflicted on children.
The depraved acts these children are forced into would not happen on the scale they do unless there was an audience for them.
Angell was part of that audience and now he has been found out.
He should be ashamed of himself and we trust the judge will sentence him appropriately.
