A SUPERSTITIOUS businesswoman has breathed a sigh of relief after thousands of mirrors she had imported from China arrived at her Droitwich shop in one piece.
Rachel Jack was relieved not to be facing seven years bad luck for the shop she opened in the town's Hanbury Road towards the end of last year. Mrs Jack said the shipment of nine 40ft (12m) containers had initially arrived in Cambridge before being sent to Droitwich and had been handled quite a lot.
She said: "They only dropped one unloading and it didn't smash, it was just the frame that was damaged. We've not, touch wood, had any of them smashed as yet."
Mrs Jack said the business, which she opened in October, was going well.
She said: "It's a fantastic area and it's an ideal place for me because it's an old car dealership.
"It's got all glass windows so we've got all the art displayed and the mirrors and it makes a big statement. It's going fantastically. I've had lots of interest, lots of foot traffic. People think it's great."
The Droitwich shop is the third branch of her business, Rachel Jack Ltd, which also sells mirrors and imported oil paintings in Luton and Manchester.
