A ROAD has collapsed in Malvern due to a burst water main, creating supply issues for some homes.
Albert Road North, Malvern has collapsed due to burst water main with the road closed until repaired, West Mercia Police confirmed today. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area.
Severn Trent Water said they were working to fix the burst pipe in Albert Road.
The pipe has now been isolated which means the network is recharging.
There was a small number of water supplies affected, but as the network is recharging, everyone’s water will be back to normal very soon if it’s not back on already, a spokesman said.
A Severn Trent spokesperson added: "We’re really sorry for any disruption caused by the burst pipe on Albert Road this morning. Our teams have been moving water around the network and isolating the burst, meaning that the majority of water supplies are back on to anyone who was affected.
"Again, we’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused and it will be our absolute priority to get the pipe fixed, and all of our work completed as quickly as we can."
One Malvern resident said the water had been off since 9am and that he had been 'completely unable to contact Severn Trent all morning'.
He added: "Their website report of the incident has not been updated since before 10am. Not good service. I’m really annoyed.
"Problems do happen but Severn Trent are impossible to get through to and, at times like this, people want accurate updates ASAP. No official indication yet as to when supplies will be restored but I was told it may be a couple of hours before the system fills back up again.”
