A BARMAN has been unanimously cleared of rape by a jury following a trial.
Richard Glazzard was acquitted of a single count of rape by a jury at Worcester Crown Court today.
The 34-year-old of Friar Street, Worcester, had maintained he was innocent of the attack which was alleged by the complainant to have been committed in the early hours of October 27, 2019.
The jury returned at midday today where the foreman announced they had found Mr Glazzard not guilty after an hour and 37 minutes spent deliberating.
In his evidence Mr Glazzard, who had been working at the Slug and Lettuce in Worcester city centre at the time the allegation was made, said he had been 'shocked', 'upset' and 'confused' by the accusation.
He gave evidence in his trial from the witness box, telling the court that sex with the woman had been consensual.
Mr Glazzard was represented by Robert Morris. The trial was heard by Judge Nicholas Cole.
