THE Vale Golf and Country Club have taken their annual charity fund to over £3000 after last weekend's Senior Open golf event.
A field of 148 competitors from 31 different clubs participated in the Vale Golf Club Seniors Open, playing a four ball better ball Stableford competition with the two best scores to count.
The Captains’ Charity raffle raised a magnificent amount of £671.00 which takes the total raised over the year to £3008.00.
This is in addition to the £4000.00 that has already been sent to the selected charities of the club; Prostate Cancer and The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust.
The club said in a statement; "Thanks go to Clare Bunn, Margaret Perryman and Belinda Whitehead who organised the raffle along with Will Reading and his team who organised this very successful day."
The winning visiting teams who were 1st on countback were; Kevin Bryan (Aldridge Artisans Golf Club), Stephen Rochester (Sutton Coldfield Golf Club), Michael Maher and M T Stephenson (Handsworth Golf Club) with a score of 86 points.
Second was Derek Norman, John Flynn and Dave Leeson (Minchinhampton Golf Club) and Dave Wardon (Cirencester Golf Club) with 86 points.
The winning Vale Team with 88 points was Pat Fox, Mike Heard, Mick Lewis and Martin Westwood and in second with 84 points were Ryan Trace, Mark Harris, Brian Leggett and Stephen Griffiths.
Nearest the pin on 5 was Mick Heard and in 2 on 17 was Roger Hawes.
