A CITY restaurant has been named among the best in the country by the Good Food Awards.
Balti Mahal, on Astwood Road has been nominated for the award, based on the food establishments "exceptional" levels of food quality, customer reviews and hygiene ratings.
Mazedul Hassan Shakil, manager of the restaurant, said: "We are so grateful to our local community, our associates for supporting us to deliver smiles to our dedicated customers. Together we shall make history".
The restaurant has been popular spot for curry fans since it opened in 2011, with a 4.5 star rating on Tripadvisor.
He said: "In recognition of our efforts during the coronavirus lockdown, we have been shortlisted as a finalist in Good Food Award and Good Food Guide again. We are so honoured and privileged to have such recognition".
Mr Shakil has urged for locals to vote for the restaurant online.
He said: "We need your support to be the winner of Good Food Award. Please cast your valuable vote".
The restaurant is among two others from the Worcestershire area nominated for the award.
The Queen Elizabeth Inn in Elmley Castle, also boasts a 4.5 star rating on Tripadvisor and has also received a certificate of excellence from the comparison website back in 2018.
The pub is known for it's traditional British cuisine.
Royal Spice, a south Indian restaurant in the heart of Worcestershire, is the third nominee from the county.
The establishment has a five star rating on Tripadvisor, with one reviewer calling the food "outstanding".
